
Book Donation from DFA-OCD Consulate General in Calgary
The Consulate General in Calgary, through the Office of Cultural Diplomacy (OCD) – Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), has donated two best copies of the book “Filipinos in Alberta: Migration, Communities, and Challenges” for legal deposit to the National Library of the Philippines. This submission, made on April 2, 2025, complies with Presidential Decree 812, ensuring the book’s preservation and public accessibility.
Ms. Melody M. Madrid, Chief of the Collection Development Division (CDD), and Ms. Narissa C. Young, Assistant Chief, warmly welcomed Hon. Zaldy B. Patron, Assistant Secretary and former Consul General of Calgary, as well as Ms. Arlene T. Magno, Acting Head of the Office of Cultural Diplomacy (OCD). Also present at the event were Director Lorenz Fernand Dantes from the Office of the Undersecretary for Migration Affairs (OUMA), Acting Director Emmylou B. Felimer, Principal Assistant Berlyn Louise T. Dayacap, and other staff members from both the Office of Cultural Diplomacy (OCD) and Office of the Undersecretary for Migration Affairs (OUMA).
The book Filipinos in Alberta was conceptualized by Hon. Zaldy B. Patron during his tenure as Consul General of Calgary and was funded by the DFA’s Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Affairs (OUMA). It explores the migration journey, community development, and challenges faced by Filipinos in Alberta, Canada.
The NLP will soon process the book and make it available in the reading area for free public access.
