National Heroes Day 2024

The National Library of the Philippines joins the whole nation in the commemoration of National Heroes Day. Today, we remember and honor the bravery of all the Filipino heroes who fought and continue to fight for the freedom and goodness of our country. This observance is in accordance with Republic Act No. 9492, s. 2007, which designates the last Monday of August as a national holiday to celebrate Heroes Day. The NLP has an online exhibit of Filipino heroes located at https://web.nlp.gov.ph/exhibit-philippine-heroes/. The images of the heroes on the poster is from this exhibit.

“Bayani Ka: Bayani ng Kalsada” Book Launching

𝗕𝗔𝗦𝗔𝗛𝗜𝗡 | Inilunsad kahapon, ika-19 ng Agosto 2024, ng Metropolitan Pacific Tollways South Management Corporation, sa pakikipagtulungan ng Pambansang Aklatan ng Pilipinas, ang ikalawang edisyon ng “Bayani Ka” na likha mula sa Bayani ng Kalsada, isang programang naglalayong lumikha ng kamalayan sa mga bata patungkol sa kaligtasan sa mga kalsada sa isang masaya at interaktibong paraan. Public Advisory: Closed on August 23 and 26, 2024

The National Library of the Philippines and Sentro ng Karunungan Library will be CLOSED on 23 August 2024 (Friday) and 26 August 2024 (Monday), in observance of the Ninoy Aquino Day and the National Heroes Day, respectively. The celebration of the Ninoy Aquino Day was moved from August 21 to August 23 through Proclamation No. 665, s. 2024. Regular operations will resume on Tuesday, 27 August 2024.

Training on the Koha Library System and TeknoAklatan

The National Library of the Philippines recently held a successful three-day Training on the Koha Library System and TeknoAklatan from August 14-16, 2024, at the Epifanio de los Santos Auditorium and Function Room. Facilitated by NLP’s Public Library Division and Information Technology Division, the event was attended by staff from various libraries both onsite and online via the NLP Facebook page. 146th Birth Anniversary of Pres. Manuel L. Quezon

Today, the National Library of the Philippines commemorates the 146th birth anniversary of former President Manuel L. Quezon, born on August 19, 1878, in Baler, El Principe (now Aurora). He went on to become the second president of the Philippines and is revered as the “Ama ng Wikang Pambansa.” Republic Act No. 6741 declares August 19 of each year as Quezon Day.
