UMS and IIUM Press Visit NLP
The National Library of the Philippines (NLP) welcomed the Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) Press and International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) Press for a library tour and meeting with the NLP management. Deputy Director Yasmin B. H. Ooi, Ph.D. of UMS Press, Dr. Ayesha Uy Abubakar of UMS Borneo Institute for Indigenous Studies, and Director Roosfa Hashim of IIUM Press had a meeting with NLP Assistant Director Edgardo B. Quiros to discuss collaboration opportunities between their respective institutions.

144th Birth Anniversary of Pres. Manuel L. Quezon
On 19 August 1938, during his 60th birthday, President Manuel L. Quezon vigorously delivered an address at what was then the Jose Rizal Memorial Field in Manila, about the spiritual regeneration of the Filipino. As part of his speech, he mentioned this about the character and virtue of our heroes:

78th Death Anniversary of Pres. Manuel L. Quezon
The National Library of the Philippines (NLP) joins the whole nation in commemorating the 78th death anniversary of former President Manuel L. Quezon today, August 1. He served as the 2nd President of the Philippines from 1935 until he died of tuberculosis while in exile in 1944.
In remembrance of his life and works, NLP features its rich online collection of various written works of Pres. Quezon, including his monographs, papers, and speeches. The collection is freely available to the public through its Tekno-Aklatan: https://nlpdl.nlp.gov.ph/mq01/home.htm.

Book Donation from Mr. Jaime C. Laya
The National Library of the Philippines would like to extend its deep appreciation to Dr. Jaime C. Laya for donating 120 copies of volumes 3 and 4 of his book titled, “Wala Lang: Articles on Philippine Life & Culture”, and “Rogers and Emma, American Teachers in the Philippines, 1911-1913 and 1915-1920” by Linda Pope Pratt.
The donation was received by NLP Director Cesar Gilbert Q. Adriano today, 30 August 2022.
These books will be distributed to the selected affiliated public libraries of NLP.
