Orientation on Basic Library Administration and KOHA Training in Casiguran Municipal Library

On June 14-15, 2023, the National Library of the Philippines, through the Public Libraries Division (PLD) and in coordination with the Collection Development Division (CDD), the Catalog Division, and the Information Technology Division (ITD), conducted a 2-day classroom Orientation on Basic Library Administration and KOHA Training in Casiguran Municipal Library.
Twenty-one (21) library, IT, and LGU staff coming from different municipalities of the Province Aurora joined the event.
Topics discussed were on accessioning and mechanical processing of materials, basic arrangement of library collection, tips on administering their public libraries, and the different modules of KOHA Integrated Library System including attendance monitoring, database repair and backup. Speakers were Ms. Lonlia Garcia, Section Head of the Mechanical Processing Section of CDD, Ms. Susan Zamora, OIC of the Catalog Division, Mr. Chad Aren Diaz Section Head of the Training Section of PLD, and Mr. Israel Mendoza, Administrative Assistant II, and Mr. Charlie Garcia, Administrative Assistant III, of ITD.
Aside from lectures, participants have had hands-on exercises for actual experience of the processes discussed.
