The American Library Association (ALA) President visited the National Library of the Philippines (NLP)

The National Library of the Philippines (NLP) together with the National Commission on Culture and the Arts – National Commission on Libraries and Information Services (NCCA-NCLIS), and Philippine Librarians Association, Inc. (PLAI), welcomed ALA President Emily Drabinski, the Chief Librarian, Graduate Center, City University of New York upon her arrival yesterday, 8 February 2023.

NLP Assistant Director Edgardo B. Quiros gave a quick tour of the library together with Prof. Salvacion M. Arlante, Head of NCAA-NCLIS and Ms. Prudenciana Cruz, former NLP director. They were also joined by the steering committee of PLAI including Ms. Lilia F. Echiverri, Chairperson of 100 Years PLAI Steering Committee with its members; Ms. Emma M. Rey, Former PLAI President, Mr. Rene Manlangit, current PLAI President and Mr. Bryan Boy Cortez, former ASLP President.

Ms. Drabinski will be the resource speaker of the seminar titled, “Essential to the Public: Libraries in Urgent Times,” conducted by PLAI-NCRLC in partnership with UP SLIS on 10 February 2023 at UP Diliman, Quezon City.
