Seminar-Workshop on Policy Development and Advocacy for the Philippine Public Library Leaders’ Conversation
On 15-19 August 2022, the National Library of the Philippines, through the Public Libraries Division, conducted a Seminar-Workshop on Policy Development and Advocacy for the Philippine Public Library Leaders’ Conversation (PPLLC). It was attended by all identified members of five (5) committees of the PPLLC – a group of selected public librarians whose goal is to help improve the services offered by public libraries by seeking alternative options and/or solutions to some of the pressing concerns/issues affecting the public library profession.
The 5-day blended seminar-workshop, which is part of the series of activities to be conducted under the PPLLC project, provided the participants an overview on policy making, policy analysis, and context setting.
Capping the activity was the Awarding Ceremonies of the 2022 Gawad-Parangal sa Natatanging Propesyunal na Tagapangasiwa at Tagapaglingkod ng Pampublikong Aklatan. Since 2019, the NLP in partnership with The Asia Foundation (TAF) have jointly ventured this project to: 1) Encourage all affiliated public libraries with NLP to continue their exemplary contributions in their community; 2) Recognize public librarians or individuals who have gone above and beyond their work in the community through their dedication, commitment, and hard work as a manifestation of their outstanding public service contributions; and, 3) Create stronger partnerships between the NLP, and other stakeholders for the development of the public libraries in the country.
The Awarding Ceremony was graced by the officers of both NLP and TAF, as well as the various awardees of the Search who were joined by the officials of their respective Local Government Unit.
