Empowering Communities Through Public Library Visits in the Province of Zamboanga Del Sur and Zamboanga City

The National Library of the Philippines (NLP) visited its affiliated public libraries and various municipalities in the Province of Zamboanga del Sur and Zamboanga City on July 07-11, 2025, to support its Local Government Units (LGUs) in providing excellent public library services for their communities. Representing NLP were Mr. Chad Aren E. Diaz, Librarian III, and Ms. Amy Felice P. Bucago, Librarian I, from the Public Libraries Division (PLD).

This activity also enabled engagement with some Local Chief Executives and other local Officials to discuss the benefits of reviving their inactive and closed public libraries, as well as establishing new ones in LGUs that have yet to set up a public library. Highlighted in the discussion was the importance of providing equal access to knowledge and lifelong learning for the entire community.
