May 12, 2022

The National Library of the Philippines joins the Filipino-Muslim community and the whole nation in the observance of Eid’l Fitr, or the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. It is a Muslim celebration of thanksgiving to Allah and marks the end of the 30-day fasting from sunrise to sunset.

This year, May 3 has been declared a national holiday through Proclamation No. 1356, s. 2022 in order to bring the religious and cultural significance of the Eid’l Fitr to the fore of national consciousness. You may read the proclamation here:

NLP is closed on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, in observance of this celebration and will resume its services on Wednesday, May 4.
