When one sense, such as sight, is lost, the other senses are often heightened. Blind massage therapists, without visual cues, become more attuned to their clients’ physical reactions during massages. Their enhanced sense of touch enables them to locate trigger points, knots, and areas of tension that clients may not have been aware of. Blind massage therapists depend solely on their sense of touch and intuition, essential qualities for any massage therapist, whether sighted or not.
During National Disability Rights Week (NDRW), the is offering free massage therapy sessions by blind therapists for employees. This initiative by acknowledges and encourages people with disabilities to showcase their skills in massage therapy.
