Allocation for Newly Affiliated Barangay Reading Centers of Urdaneta City
7 newly affiliated Barangay Reading Centers of Urdaneta City, Pangasinan received the partial allocation on 14 June 2022 at the National Library of the Philippines. They were headed by the Ms. Bernadine M. Gravela, City Librarian (City Government Assistant Department Head) of Urdaneta City Library with the Library In-Charge of each Barangay Reading Centers:
- Arianne May D. Nicolas- Bayaoas Barangay Reading Center
- Jocelyn C. Biccay- Catablan Barangay Reading Center
- Jenny L. Lutrania- Labit East Barangay Reading Center
- Jocelyn L. Almendares- Labit West Barangay Reading Center
- Aiza C. Ramirez- Sugcong Barangay Reading Center
- Melanie M. Tabayoyong- Oltama Barangay Reading Center
- Maria Isabel M. Fernandez- Pinmaludpod Barangay Reading Center
Assistant Director Edgardo B. Quiros led the turnover of 1 set of computers with e-resources, globe, map, purchased and donated printed materials to each barangay reading center, while the Urdaneta City Library received donated library materials. The staff of the Public Libraries Division (PLD) led by Chad Aren Diaz, Librarian III of the PLD Training Section; Julie Ann Dominique DL. San Esteban,Librarian III and head of Library Establishment and Affiliation and Monitoring and Evaluation Section; and, Vida Dorea Mendoza, Librarian II of the Establishment and Affiliation Unit.
The group also requested for a guided library tour to explore the current services of NLP and the available facilities at the reading areas. Staff of the Filipiniana Division, Marieta Valdez and Jean Ico, gave a quick tour of the Reading Rooms, and showed some of the preservation activities including dry cleaning, encapsulation and book binding respectively.
