National Teachers’ Month 2023

The National Library of the Philippines is joining the celebration of National Teachers’ Month 2023 with this newspaper article from the Philippines Free Press, dated March 30, 1935, entitled “Be Proud You Are Teachers.” In the article, former Director of Education, Dr. W. W. Marquardt, recalled several instances of heroism by teachers and urged newly graduated teachers to take pride in the profession they were entering. He stated, “One of the brightest spots in the history of the Bureau of Education has been the loyalty and self-sacrifice on the part of teachers.”
