The National Library of the Philippines is celebrating the 63rd Public Library Day today, 9 March 2022, with the theme, “Pampublikong Aklatan, Katuwang ng Pamayanan: Pagbangon sa Pandemya, Pagpapayabong ng Kultura at Pagpapalaganap ng Karunungan.”
his year’s theme highlights the significant contribution of public libraries in the recovery process of the community from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Public libraries continue to serve as a knowledge center, providing access to its collections and extensive services, bringing many opportunities to the community.
Proclamation No. 563, s. 1959, recognized the importance of Public Libraries in the dissemination of knowledge and culture and its responsibility to education and literacy of the community. The public library contributes to promoting the economic and social security of the community.
