2022 National Library of the Philippines Capacity Building
Aiming to strengthen the workforce of the National Library of the Philippines by capacitating them to meet the necessary core and organizational competencies required from their position, NLP Director Cesar Gilbert Q. Adriano and Assistant Director Edgardo B. Quiros and The National Library of the Philippines Employees Association (TNLEA) headed by its President Ms. Cherry V. Melquiades spearheaded the 2022 NLP Capacity Building on 13-14 October 2022 at the Bakasyunan Resort and Convention Center, Tanay Rizal.
The two-day Capacity Building was divided into three activities;
a. Lectures in parallel sessions on the core and organizational competency as part of the Learning and Development intervention;
b. Lecture on the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the Republic Act. No.11313 otherwise known as the “Safe Spaces Act,” as part of the Gender and Development activity;
c. Team building activities and Fellowship Night
Esteemed speakers gave an extensive presentation on the core and organizational competency through lectures and interactive discussions which were actively participated by NLP employees. Ms. Ma. Socorro T. Valenzuela, Master Teacher II, Ms. Lea Ross Evangelista and Mr. Balvin Ruaring from Ismael Mathay Sr. High School; Mr. Shem G. Ibabao, Teacher I from Bagong Buhay Elementary School; and, Mr. John Ronald Almonina, Planning and Development Specialist were the speakers assigned in each group.
Mr. Leonardo P. Bernabe Jr., the Chairperson of NLP GAD FPS and Chief of the Information Technology Division, shared a discussion on Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of Republic Act No. 11313 otherwise known as the “Safe Spaces Act,” for Gender and Development activity.
Employees also participate in the team-building activities facilitated by the staff of the Bakasyunan Resort and Convention Center. Five teams composed of the Red Team, Blue Team, Green Team, Black Team, and Gray Team participated in a friendly and fun competition. The socialization night was followed after the team-building activities.
