National Flag Days
The National Library of the Philippines joins the nation in commemorating the 127th Anniversary of National Flag Day!
This day marks the first unfurling of the Philippine National Flag after the victorious Battle of Alapan on May 28, 1898—a moment that paved the way for the formal declaration of our independence on June 12, 1898.
Proclamation No. 374 (1965) officially declared May 28 as National Flag Day, while Executive Order No. 179 (1994) enjoins all Filipinos to proudly display the Philippine flag on all buildings, establishments, and homes from May 28 to June 12. Let us honor and uphold our flag as a powerful symbol of our hard-earned freedom.
